I choose gen z women (age range of 18-25) as the target client for my 6 design collection. To build my background data, I will begin my research on Gen z's fashion style color palette that I will be focusing mainly in the use of 'berkain' by Indonesian young generations. I would like to gather more research to create my color palette and trend board that aligned with my client profile. Because I'm targeting Gen z as my client, I found out that a lot of 'berkain' trend are popularized by Indonesian influencers on their social media platform. To understand better on how Indonesian young adult like to dress in their 'wastra' or 'batik', I did most of my research through videos and posts of Influencers joining the 'berkain' trend on TikTok and instagram, and some research through fashion journals commentating on the trend.
Yura Yunita
Yura Yunita is a Sundanese singer and songwriter. Beside her song creation that constantly become a huge hit, she is also famous for wearing modified 'kebaya' in all of her performance. In most of her costume, she would use vibrant color with bold 'batik' print that gives an edgy look but she still keeps her feminine touch by accessorizing with lace, ruffle, gold accessories and pearls. I also notice that Yunita likes to wear corset to enhance her feminine feature in her bold outfit. Looking at her range or costumes, I'm impressed at how she could integrate traditional clothing (Wastra) into her modern-look stage costume. 'Yura Yunita always manages to steal attention with her stunning appearance. On various occasions, she often wears a modified kebaya which makes her look elegant and modern. This kebaya combined with various traditional fabrics not only shows his love for Indonesian culture, but also becomes an inspiration for many people.' (Senjie Nuraini, 2024).

Nadin Amizah is a rising star known both as singer and songwriter. She become one of the artist who promotes 'berkain' to Indonesian teenagers. Different with Yura Yunita style, Nadin Amizah's costume show a feminine and ethereal look with soft pastel color batik and a touch of ruffle and ribbons accessories. This style is also known as coquette aesthetic. 'The aesthetic arrived in 2020, trotting towards us in silk ballet flats and little bows, armed with Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita. Coquette core does give a little room for feeling. For flirtation! Tenderness! Expression! 'I also love a woman who knows how to wield those sentiments through clothing; to reign power over men through a campy version of femininity. Little Bo-Peep naivety with a hint of Marie Antoinette girlishness' (Nast, 2024). Compared to Yura Yunita's bold and edgy style, Amizah coquette costume aim for a more girlish but graceful look. This kind of style are very popular among Indonesian teenager as the soft and cheerful color radiates youthful energy.

Alicia Amaris
Alicia Amaris is a fashion design student living in Jakarta, who constantly shares her mix and match kebaya outfit while promoting 'berkain' campaign on her TikTok. She is famous for her unique and creative ways to style kebaya in her everyday outfit. Looking through her videos, I notice that her sense of style are a mix of Yunita's bold and edgy look with Amizah's soft and feminine style. To make her clothing stands out, she mostly wear bright and vibrant batik as her main garment piece, which she then will style with contrasting color outer that have lace and ruffle accent to it and finish off by accessorizing with obi belt and pearl headpiece. Her pop of color but also a feminine accent through the use of corset and maxi skirt is what I wanted my color palette for my design to be. It doesn't only give a fun and cheerful vibe but also a youthful way to integrate traditional clothing with a gen z's fashion style.
Looking at the fashion style reference of Gen z from 'berkain' trend, I'm wanted to integrate the summer color palette to the fashion style in my first design experiment. To come up with a design, I browse through all the influencer's post to gather interesting clothing piece that I would like to put on my design. I decide to use watercolor for this design to practice with using vibrant color palette on my sketch. Coming up with a design idea took the longest time for me, but I most enjoy painting with watercolor for this experiment.

Good that you have added this research however you need to relate this to your work and add your own initial sketches also you need to use text to display and add a hyper link rather that adding the http address under the videos/images
