Colour Pallete: Development

2025's color palette centered in ashy-pastel hues. Contrasting with 2024's color trend of loud and expressive shades, this year color captures comfort and harmony.  Looking at 2025's spring summer fashion runway, I notice that there are a few colors that makes an appearance in most collection which are brown, army green and beige or khaki. These color will be discuss further below.

Brown

Giorgio Armani 2025 Spring Summer 

"Mocha Mousse" was declared by Pantone as the color of the year 2025. Just like chocolate and coffee, brown gives a warming and comforting feeling through its simple but elegant shades. "This timeless neutral is among the easiest to style and manages to feel a bit more refined than a simple black or charcoal gray" (Kliest, 2025).  In spring summer 2025 runway, this tan-khaki color is mostly use as its main colour for the look. I also notice that 2025 runway repeatedly use single-color for its collection, like how Hermes paired its brown rolled-sleeve jacket with similar color brassiere and trouser.

Another color that stands out in 2025 trends is grass-green color.  "The lush gemstone color is one of the season's most exciting palettes, on display at runways like Saint Laurent, Prada, and Dries van Noten. Similarly to burgundy's 2024 reign, the transformation from olive green tones to emerald hues is a seamless one for 2025." (Sola-Santiago, 2025). 

This green color has various terms for its shades, 'chartreuse green' according to vogue, 'frog-green' as stated by refinery29 or 'emerald gem', but relating this to my collection concept, I will choose to incorporate army green to my collection's colour palette. I also think that army green will be the perfect pair with brown as my two main colours.

This year, beige has become the new 'white', a versatile color perfect as the base to mix and match or stands alone like the khaki-color top and bottom that keeps appearing in 2025 spring-summer runway especially in Kenzo, Zegna and Hermes collection. 

When making my first collection sketches, I know I wanted to have both army green and brown in my colour palette as it is the notable color for military-fashion, however I also thought of using navy blue because for me navy blue gives a empowering and masculine feeling, perfect for the military style that I was going for. But looking back to my initial concept of incorporating nature's texture into my collection, navy blue with army green will not be a great colour combination especially for the earthy and natural theme of this collection. 

After finalizing of using both the army green and brown, I then did color swatch of shades to complement the two colours that I have choose. Because the concept of this collection centered in nature and earthly elements, I thought it was best to use neutral color to complete the palette, therefore I decided to go with dark grey and beige.
