    2025 Spring/Summer Trend Forecast

    Bubble skirt and Inflated Silhouette

"Designers including Jacquemus, Schiaparelli, and Miu Miu have revisited bubble-hem skirts, which were last popular in the '80s. This silhouette isn't going anywhere for 2025, as Simone Rocha and JW Anderson have embraced balloon-like shapes in their spring collections"(Spedding, 2024). For AP1 fashion collection, I'm taking this trend as my major inspiration for my 6-design collection. Combining the femininity from bubble-like silhouette with the masculinity of utility gear will be an interesting trend combination to experiment with for this term project. 

Sporty and street style with feminine feature (parachute and utility gear)

"A sporty sensibility carried over from fashion’s Olympics fervor pervaded the spring/summer 2025 runways"(Fass and Abbas, 2024). 2025's sporty trend is predicted to be combined with utilitarian and athleisure, highlighting the comfortability and practicality of streetwear and sportswear. "This spring/summer is all about the perfect balance of practical-meets-polish" (Eggenberger, 2024). Although sportswear is commonly associate with masculinity and boldness, but this year's approach on womenswear street style combine the oversized silhouette of sportswear with a little twist on femininity, through bright summery colours or by wearing it with heels. 

                                                Military green and khaki color

The uprising trend of utility gear and practical outerwear in 2025 has come with the increasing appearance of military green and khaki color in 2025's runway. Monochromatic is used mostly for this look based on what I observed from Hermes, Sacai and Bottega Venetta's runway. These looks focus on the simplicity but chic and elegant mood with minimal embellishment or pattern. 

Skirt over Pants

Although 'skirt over pants' trend over the past years has received a lot of hate, but Matthieu Blazy's take on the trend has gain so much attention with the unique approach of one-legged trouser paired with asymmetrical skirt. Although I personally can't see how layering skirt over pants can make a flattering combination, however I agree that Bottega Veneta's spring-summer 2025 has successfully give this trend another chance to shine on this year's fashion trend.

When making my design sketches for my final collection, I actually don't have any intention of including the 'skirt over pants' look into my collection, however I then realize that all of my womenswear design have similar bubble-skirt look. So, I was thinking what can I add to make each design stands on its own. I then try to sketch a straight-oversized trouser underneath the skirt, and surprisingly I really like how it paired perfectly with the bubble skirt and cropped jacket on top.
