2D Outcome: Sketches and Development
Marina Sidneva has always been my biggest inspiration and role model in my fashion illustration journey. What I like the most from her watercolor illustration is how she's able to recreate the intricate details of the fabric drape or flow into her illustration. It's also noticeable that she add a subtle exaggeration of the dress silhouette to present a unique impression of turning runway look into an exquisite illustration.
For my AP1 2d outcome, I made a 6-design collection illustrated with watercolor. The collection consist of 3 womenswear and 3 menswear design. Instead of drawing straight standing-pose fashion croquis, I decided to use different pose for each of the croquis, inspired by Helene Majera's fashion magazine which uses exaggerated model pose on her illustration.

Initially I planned to draw the model overlapping on each other with some model on a sitting pose and others on a standing pose behind it, however if I was going to go with my initial plan then it wouldn't be effective as I'm will not be able to use the illustration for my portfolio pages. Therefore, I'm decided to sketch my collection illustration with different poses but not overlapping, like the image below.
To complete the look, I add accessories like safari hat, sling bag and backpack that's related to the concept theme and colour palette. It took me 3 layers of coloring, and I finish the illustration by outlining with 0.1 ink pen and enhance the highlights with white conte pencil.
This illustration took about 3 days of sketching and coloring. And to photograph the finished illustration, I found that scanning works the best to photograph detailed illustration. The next step is to transfer the image into procreate, to fix the messy outline and remove the background. The process of creating my portfolio pages will be posted on the next post.
