Creating Portfolio Pages

The first step of constructing my portfolio pages is to create my concept note, customer profile and moodboard pages which mostly is a collage of multiple picture overlapping. First I download  all the pictures and images that I wanted to include on the pages, then import it to procreate. Next, I start to plan how I wanted my pages to look like, and arrange the pictures accordingly. To make a collage, I remove the some part of the background by clicking 'selection tool' then click 'freehand' and trace the outline that I want to remove. To delete, click 'cut'. On these pages, I use abstract outline of removing the background, these creates a unique organic shapes.

The next step is creating the technical drawing of the 6 designs from the collection. Last term, I made the technical drawing on procreate because I'm still not familiar with digital software, however this term I decided to try to use adobe illustrator to make my technical drawing more neater and professional. To start, first click 'file' 'open' and click the croquis template image. This is going to be the guideline to make the drawing. Next, click the 'pen' tool and make the outline of the top for only the half of the top therefore the finished drawing will be symmetrical, this doesn't have to be a neat outline because the next step is to click the 'anchor' tool and adjust the curve of the line according to the design.  Next, fill in the outline with colour by clicking the 'fill-in colour' with dark grey. Now, select all the line and right click, then click 'transform', 'vertical' and 'copy', this going to duplicate and flip the half drawing to complete the other half. Last, repeating the step, create the similar design from the back view. As this was my first time using adobe illustrator, it took me approximately an hour to finish the technical drawing for one design.

After I have the technical drawing for all of the design, next I import it to procreate, to make the collection pages. On each of the design page, I added the watercolor illustration, the technical drawing, colour palette as well as the fabric swatches. On some of the pages, I also added a sketch and image that relates to the design.

Last, after assembling all the pages for the portfolio, I then download it as png, and import it to Canva, where I will be adding the text and compile all the pages into a finished portfolio. I find Canva as the easiest way to add all the text, therefore it will have a continuous and similar font and size throughout all the pages. I use 'montserrat' as the font for all the text in the portfolio. After finish compiling the pages, the last step is to export it into png and import it to my Wix website which will then will be turned into a gallery.
