Focus Group Feedback
1. what do you think about my inspiration reference of my project (Wayang, traditional Indonesian shadow puppet)
My audience thinks that the Wayang can be a great element to represent my country, because for this project I was going for the classic and 'grand' costume attire and the wayang showcase the 'royal' feels of the character's costume, which match the concept that I was planning.
2. Looking at my moodboard, do you think I have too many elements as the reference for my project?
Marta think that having several elements as the reference can help me to have much more option to put on my design. Others also suggest that perhaps I can add different elements into other design costume, for example the women design can have the baroque elements whereas the men design can take more from the wayang's attire. Therefore, I can present many Indonesian heritage from my design collection.
3. Is my design appropriate as a national costume?
Marta thinks that my men and children costume represent the wayang elements really well because of the gold accessories and baroque elements that appeared a lot in both design, on the other hand she thought that the women design is much more contemporary with less presentation of my culture. Violeta suggested that perhaps I can add similar gold accessories with baroque pattern as the shoulder accessories on the women costume design.
4. If it were yours, what would you change about my prototype or design?
They don't really have any comments about this because they are not familiar with my country's cultures, but they recommended me to play around and experiment with incorporating different Indonesian elements therefore I can know which one represent my country the best.
5. Do you think that my design is achievable to be made into a 3d outcome, considering the period of the module?
Marta is also questioning if the production time period will be enough for me to make the 3d outcome. Violeta suggested that perhaps I can start to make the garment after the first blog assessment, considering we only have about 7 more weeks before art portfolio submission. I think it was a great idea, however I'm not sure if I'm allowed to start the production when in week 4 we're just starting with our research. Perhaps during the research period, I'm going to finalize my design and create another prototype therefore when I'm making my final garment I will not need to spend a lot of time in making the garment pattern, and I can start sewing right away.
