Pre-Project Sign Off
Today my pre-project outline has been successfully signed off by Zoe, which can be viewed here. During the tutorial, there are several things that we discussed about my project plan.
First, we talked about what kind of fabric I'm planning to use for the final design and how I'm going to sourced it. Because the fabric that I primarily used in the garment will be Indonesian traditional textile which is certainly hard to sourced here, therefore I have prepared this a couple weeks earlier, and bought the fabric from Indonesia which will be brought here by my friends who is coming to Leicester this week. Besides fabric, I also bought several Balinese headpiece (see picture below), accessories and trinkets like beads and pearls. It was a bit of a challenge to pick a few fabric that I will be using for my 3d outcome as I still didn't have my final design that I will made into a garment and also a finalized colour palette, therefore I decided to brought several fabric option with different pattern (see picture below).
Another things that we discussed is about utilizing workshop facilities to help me with my outcome production. As I plan to make my own headpiece and other accessories perhaps by using wire or plastic molding technique, so I request to be included for the next workshop induction, therefore I can use the facilities to make the accessories. To also help with my outcome production, Zoe offered to purchase a mannequin with the same measurement as my body because I had trouble draping the corset pattern to fit my body on the smaller mannequin, and Zoe also bought a head mannequin so it will be easier for me to shape and mold the headpiece according to my head measurement.
After getting my project signed off, the next step I'm going to take is finalizing my design especially the one that will be made into a 3d outcome, therefore before the end of week 5 I can already start the production as I will also received my fabric in beginning of week 5. Once I got my finalized design, my goal for next week is to drape the corset pattern, make a sample prototype from calico and perhaps I can start to cut the patten on the real fabric. Along with that, I will also start to experiment with wire art and resin to make the arm cuff and headpiece.
Here are a few arm cuff inspiration that I plan to recreate for my wire art experiment next week. To keep the glamour and elegant concept of my design, I will perhaps use gold wire and also incorporate the baroque spiral shape that is commonly seen in wayang's carving.

Good work - clear and detailed
