Production Progress: Week 6
Due to my 3d outcome that will take a lot longer to make, therefore I started my production process earlier. In week 6, I made the final mock up of my corset based on the revision that I want to add on the first corset pattern. I changed the corset neckline from sweetheart neckline to scoop shape or usually called high sides neckline (see picture below).
I also made add 3 cm seam allowance to the back panel of the corset as I planned to use open zipper not like a regular corset with eyelets and lace. During week 6, I have browsed for all the materials and fabric needed for the project. I went to a few fabric stores to compare different colored lace with the Indonesian textile that was already sent here. Based on the design sketches that I made for my 3d outcome (see picture below), I was planning to use either yellow, white or red colored lace for the bolero or top. Therefore, I brought my 'songket' to compare and match which color is best to complement the fabric.
I also asked the fabric seller for opinion on which color complement the fabric the best. Eventually, I decided to bought white colored lace for the top as well as white lace curtain fabric for the skirt. Initially I wanted to use tablecloth for the top layer of the skirt because it has a stiffer structure and also a unique lace pattern, and I found a pretty tablecloth with floral lace along the edge but unfortunately it was not big enough to be made into a skirt.
Here is all the fabric I'm going to use for my outcome.
Besides fabric, I also bought other materials like bias tape, boning, thread, interfacing and open zipper. At the end of week 6, I have started making the corset lining as well as cutting the pattern on the main fabric. My plan for the next three weeks is going to be discussed on the production plan post.

Good post, Rania. You've really considered this aspect of the process - good use of key terms.
